Loyalty

Here we are in Montana and LOADS to see..We found this incredible statue with such a story that we just had to share.  Its in Fort Benton Montana - Heres his story:
 OLD SHEP
In Aug 1936, an ill sheepherder was hospitalized in Fort Benton, MT.  His faithful companion an old shepherd dog waited patiently outside the hospital.
The man died and his family decided to ship his body back east for burial.
The dog was lost in the crowd as they loaded the mans body onto the train.
Shep was left behind...Old Shep, patiently and methodically held a vigil to insure reunion with his ownder.  For FIVE years he waited at the train station meeting each train and all passengers as they returned.
Sadly in old age on January 12, 1942  Shep slipped on the tracks and was killed waiting for his owner to return ...
Old Sheps story exemplifies the devotion and faithfulness of dogs everywhere.  He remains a patron saint of Loyalty, patience and friendship.
Occurring in the shadow of the Great Depression and the advent of World War II, the story took an added significance for those who mourned the departure of loved ones and hoped for their safe return.
WOW!! Now thats a dog!
